College Stuff

I recently applied to a couple of colleges. That was December 13th. I was fairly certain that I would probably get in. I have pretty good grades--mostly As and a few Bs. But I failed a class. So I wasn't sure how that would affect my getting accepted. I applied online, and the site said that it would take 2-4 weeks for them to make a decision. I tried not to worry about it too much.

Yesterday I got some stuff from a couple different of schools. One of them was from one of the schools I applied to. My mom saw it and said I should open it. I'm thinking, Mom, it's been less than 2 weeks. It's the 24th. Don't worry about it.

But I opened anyways, just to please her. I figured it was no big deal. I had already gotten a ton of stuff from that school. Basically, the stuff I had gotten was just information about the school. Once I had the envelope open, I took out the papers. I started reading.

"Congratulations..." I wasn't sure what they were talking about. Congratulations for what? Then I continued reading. I got accepted! It was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a confirmation that they received my application. But I got accepted.

Even better?

I got a scholarship. $12,000 a year for 4 years. I checked online, and if I maintain a 3.1 GPA or higher, it increases by $500 each year (if I read it right). And we haven't even done the FAFSA yet. So I can get even more financial aid.

This school is my second choice, but I'm still happy. I got in. :)

Santa and Yoda

After some reflection, I realized that my blog was beginning to sound like the Never Been Kissed columns. I think it's pointless to have that many. So I'm avoiding that kind of topic. And I have good news.

I'm getting a post posted tomorrow on sparklife! I'm excited.

I wrote a letter to Santa. I showed Amasis. And she laughed at me.

I also showed her the origami Yoda I made. She laughed at that too. :( I spent over an hour folding that thing, and she laughed. Well, here is a picture of it. It looks better here, 'cause I edited the colors on picnik.

Yoda, it is.
You like?

His hand is deformed 'cause I couldn't tell what they guy was doing in the video...but it's still awesome. I made it for my dad for Christmas.

I probably won't get on again before Christmas, so Merry Christmas Everybody!!

Merry Christmas

Joe

I went to youth group last night. There is another guy that goes to the same youth group as Bob as me. We'll call him Joe.

It was my friend's birthday yesterday, so we had a "surprise" birthday party for her. (she knew about it) So we watched To Save a Life (good movie). Normally, youth group gets over at 8:30 but we leave closer to 8:45. Yesterday, it went really late because of the movie. We didn't leave until about 10:00.

A few people had already left. Most everybody else went into the back room. Amasis and I were one of the couple of people out in the main room. Bob and Joe were there too. Bob was playing the drum kit (he can play the drums too) and Joe was dancing like a spaz...Eventually we all left. Amasis and I had to ride with our leader because we didn't have any other ride. We got into the van and waited for everyone to leave the building. She has a really big van. Amasis and I sat in the middle row. When we getting ready to leave, Joe came over. He needed a ride too. He couldn't get to the back seat because there were guitars there. So he sat in the middle with us. But there were two separate seats on either side of the van. So he ended up sitting in my seat with me.

There wasn't much room so he said I could sit on his lap. He said something like "tell Santa what you want." We left and started heading home. It was snowing that night and the van slid on the road. All of a sudden Joe grabs me and pretends that he's scared. So we're in this small seat and he gets closer by hugging me. Then after awhile he sat in my lap and pretended that I was Santa. (I'm pretty sure I look nothing like Santa) He turned to me and said, "I want a pony for Christmas. But it's gotta be pink. And I want a red ryder bb gun." (what's special about a red ryder bb gun?) Then he decided it was weird to sit on my lap since he was taller than me.

Today, I saw him at school a few times. Amasis and I walk together and every time we passed him, Amasis said, "I want a pink pony." She was going to tell my parents about it, but after some threatening peaceful negotiations, she agreed not to tell them. My dad would pick on me so much if he knew. Amasis almost told my mom though. We got home from youth group and she told my mom that she wanted a pink pony. My mom didn't know what she was talking about. Amasis almost explained it to her.

Then at swim practice today, Amasis asked if I wanted a pink pony for Christmas. I told her I could use the bb gun. And I had a target in mind... Another of the swimmers overheard the part about the pony. She said that if I got a pony, she would invite herself to come over to our house.

I ended up hearing the phrase "pink pony" close to a hundred times today. That's only a slight exaggeration.

Bob :)

So I go to a youth group. I started going March of 2009. July 2010 I stopped going for awhile. I went on a missionary-trip-type-thing. Early in November I started going again. I walked in and saw a bunch of people I didn't know. There were guest speakers that night.

One of the people I didn't know had a guitar.
My thoughts: He plays guitar! That's so cool! His guitar strap is so much cooler than mine.

Then he started playing.
My thoughts: Wow! He's really good!

Then he started singing "How He Loves" by David Crowder Band. He sounds almost like the singer, except he has an accent when he sings. *sighs*
My thoughts: He can sing! Really good! *sigh*

I'm guessing that he was one of the guest speakers since I had never seen him before. I was resigned to never see him again. The next week I went back to youth group. He was there again! We'll call him Bob from now on.
My thoughts: Bob's back!

Bob's been there every week since then. And every week he sings a couple of songs before we start the lesson. Did I mention he can sing well? Once he finishes the songs, he goes and sits in the back away from everyone else. He doesn't join in any of the games we play, so I figured he was older. Maybe early/mid 20s.

And then last week I saw him at school. So there goes the 20ish theory.
My thoughts: Yay! He's not super old!

Then last week our leader had all of say our names, age, and what we like to do. He was joking and said a few different ages. He is actually either 18 or 19. So either one or two years older than me. Now for what he looks like. He is kinda tall. He has black hair and dark brown eyes. He has braces. He usually wears nice shirts--button up shirts--I've never seen him in a teeshirt. But he wears sort of skinny jeans. I think it's weird for guys to wear skinny jeans, but they are loose and  not really skinny jeans. But the rest of him makes up for it.
My thoughts: He has the things I like in a guy! :)

My ideal qualities in a guy: (this is what I like, but I'm not picky) the "X" indicates which qualities he has.
X tallish
X dark eyes
X lean (not really thin, but not overly muscular)
x funny (I think he might be kind of funny, but I don't know for sure, because he doesn't really talk much at youth group)
X same religious beliefs as me (super bonus)
X can play guitar (bonus)
X can sing (bonus)
X mature
_ interested*

*Unfortunately, I don't know if he likes me or not. We haven't really had a conversation yet. When we see each other at school, we smile at each other, but that's the extent of it. But that might be because we are headed in opposite directions.

Bob has all the things I like in a guy, plus some. *sigh* *stupid grin* :) I keep thinking about him all the time. And when I see him at school, it puts me in a good mood for awhile. *sigh* :)

*sigh* I must go now.

Hi :)

So I got my senior pictures taken last weekend. Or the one before. I don't remember..

You can check them out on facebook.

Which one is your favorite?

I must sleep, so that is all.

Au revoir. Je m'en vais.

Random Note: Because of day light savings, I now can get to school after the sun rises. Unfortunately, this also means that the sun will be setting when I go home from school.

Writers Workshop 6

This is based off of my NaNo book. When you finish reading it, please tell me what you think about these characters.
Prompt: Begin with "I wish someone had told me..."

***

I wish someone would have told me that leaving was so hard. I turned around in the passenger seat of the car. I could see Dan out of the back car window. He was standing at his window. He had the curtain pulled back, and he was watching the car drive away from his house. I waved at him. Then I remembered that the car windows were tinted. Dan would not have seen me wave. He probably will think that I left without even saying bye. He looked as sad as I felt.

I turned back to the front of the car. I felt as though someone had reached out and taken a chunk out of my chest. I felt hollow. It felt like there was something missing. And there was pain. Lots of pain.

I wanted to blame Doyle. He was the one who was driving the car. He was the one who convinced me to come.  But it was still me choice. In the end, I was the one who decided to go. But that didn't mean that I was happy. I was anything but happy.

I felt a tear roll down my face. It left a cold wet trail on my cheek. Doyle looked over at me. "What's wrong?"

I wiped my face and sniffled. "Nothing."

"Don't lie. Revelations 21:8." He's referencing the Bible? I've been Lutheran for my whole life, but Doyle didn't seem like the type who would go to church.

"The Bible?"

"Yeah. Does that surprise you?"

"Kinda. I mean, you grew up as a necromancer, right?" He nodded. "I just don't get how you could believe in God if you grew up seeing dead people."

"Yeah. I had my near death experience when I was five. If you see ghosts and zombies at that age, you need something to keep you from going crazy."

"And give you hope that there's something better out there."

"Exactly." After that, we sat quietly in the car for awhile. Neither of us said anything for almost an hour. But you can only take so much silence. Even when you feel like you are dying inside.

"So what exactly are we doing? I got the whole 'save the world' thing, but what are we gonna do once we get where we're going?"

"First off, it's not like a superhero saving the world from a meteorite or something. We're just stopping the apocalypse." "Just stopping the apocalypse"? "Second, we're going to Iowa. Third, we are gonna teach you how to control any spirits that you summon. We both know that you're not exactly the best at that." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Iowa. Why Iowa? What's so special about Iowa?" I asked.

"There is a lot of cows and corn."

I punched him arm. "No. I'm serious."

He laughed. "It's practically in the middle of the United States. So there is a base there. The location makes it easier for us to meet."

I tried not to think about all the possibilities why a bunch of necromancers would have to meet. This time, one of us got too power hungry, tried to take over, blah, blah, blah.

The other day, I was just walking home from a friend's house. Who knew that I would die? Who knew that my world would get tuned upside down? Who knew that I was going to try to save the world from zombies. Without meaning to, I started laughing.

"What's so funny?"

"I was just thinking. When I go back to school next month, it's going to seem so weird. Someone is going to ask, 'What did you do over break?' Then I'm gonna say, 'Nothin' much. I just kept zombies from eating your brain.' Could you imagine that conversation?"

"Hmm. We could have fun retelling that story." Doyle was faking enthusiasm. "Too bad we can't really tell anyone about it."

"Yeah," I said, "It would have made a pretty epic war story."

Testing...Testing...

I'm attempting something.

*30 seconds later*

It worked! :)

This is a video I made. I learned how to embed a video. It works so much better than what I tried before...

So this is "Whispers in the Dark" by Skillet. I had a better video for "Rebirthing." But I had to audioswap. When I fix it, I'll post the video.

NaNoWriMo

So I'm doing National Novel Writing Month this year. I'm going to be very busy next month. I have Academic decathlon every day after school, except Fridays. Then I have sychronized swimming on Mondays. Then I have winter swim team practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So I don't have much time. I can't even write in the morning 'cause I have to be at school by 7:00 for PE. *wants to cry*

So I'll stop blogging in November. I probably wont be getting on gmail or facebook either. Unless I've reached my goal for the week ahead of schedule.

Anyone want to make a character for my NaNo book? It's about a necromancer. So your character could be a normal human, a necromancer, a villain, a ghost, a werewolf, a vampire, or a zombie. I have a brief summary and an excerpt here.

I'll probably do my next writer's workshop based off of this book.

Any questions?

Au revoir. Je m'en vais.

Post Number 63

So I have had 62 posts before this one... more than I was expecting to have already...

And I have 27 followers, besides myself. 27 is my second favorite number. 10 is my favorite, because it's such a nice number. It mows the yard for it's neighbors, and it helps kittens that are stuck in trees--wait that's not what I meant. 10 is a nice number in math. You can easily multiply and divide by 10. And it's somewhat unique. The digits are neither prime nor composite.

But I know most people don't like math as much as I do...so I have a real post.

About pets. I have three.

I already posted this on my blog, but I don't have any other non-blurry ones of her...

The first is a dog. She is named Snickers. We didn't name her after a candy bar. I'll get to the naming in a moment. We got her at the pound. When my dad went outside to get his checkbook out of the car, she started jumping on the door, because she didn't want him to leave. We ended up saving her life. No one wanted her 'cause she wasn't a puppy. The people at the pound had kept her longer than they should have. She would have only been around for a few more days.

After we got her, we went to Dairy Queen. At the time, my dad always got the same thing. A Snickers blizzard. So my little sister decided to name her Snickers since we were at Dairy Queen at the time. We have had her for 10 years.
My cute little blimp :)

The next pet we got was a cat. My neighbors babysit. They always have a lot of little kids at their house. One day, they chased a kitten under our porch. We tried to get out for quite awhile. A week later, after 3 cans of tuna and a can of sardines, we finally got the cat out. One day, my sister was playing with the cat and told my dad it was a girl and he never checked. A few days later, we found out it was a boy. And we named him Snuggles. He has several nicknames. All of which have to deal with his size.

Salazar McMuffin
My most recent cat was another stray. We were sitting outside, and he just came up to us. Then we fed him. And he didn't leave. Now he is a permanent resident of our home. We named him Floppy. He just kinda flops over when you hold him. He is a cute adorable little pest. He ate my sister's homework the other day...

I think he looks like a loaf of bread. He just kinda curls up on the floor, and he looks like a loaf of homemade bread. Or a cinnamon roll. Or a long john. Or a scone. I seem to think he looks like pastries. I call him Salazar McMuffin. The Salazar part happened when we put the harness on him. He was slithering like a snake. I decided that "slithering" sounded like "Slytherin,"so I called him Salazar. :)
