Rejection

So I sent an article in to sparknotes. About band Camp. Unfortunately, a post about band camp was posted the next day...and it wasn't mine. :(

Mine was rejected because someone else had it first. :(

So, I'll post it here.

***

School and football are about to start. For my sister and me, this means that we have band camp. This is what happened on the first day.

12:00 I lost the sheet that had the times for camp. So I had to text my friend to see how long it would last. I'm thinking it will be an hour, maybe two. No. He told me camp is from 1 to 5.
12:15 My alarm goes off to remind me to leave.
12:30 My sister and I start walking to the school. By the time we get halfway there, I realize I forgot my water bottle. Which is unfortunate in 95 degree weather (heat index 111).
12:40 We get to the school. We head to the band room, which is one of the only rooms with air conditioning at our school. My sister and I sit down next to each other (We are the type of sisters that actually get along...most of the time).
1:00 After sitting in the band room for about 20 minutes, I finally cool down. The teacher takes attendance and gives a few announcements. He tells us we are scheduled until 5:30 but if  we get thing done, we could leave by 4:30.
1:20 We finally start playing. We were supposed to start at 1:00.
1:40 After practicing the national anthem and the school song, we start playing songs from Green Day.
1:55 We have an extremely strong low section. I was sitting right in front of them, and it got loud. This resulted in many shouts of "I can't hear you!"
2:17 We start playing Lady GaGa music.
2:24 The band starts playing Bad Romance. I get lost from the very beginning and I fake played for the whole song. When we finish, I realize I was playing Poker Face. *facepalm*
2:26 My sister finally stops laughing at me.
2:34 We start the next song. My sister turns to me and asks, "Do you have the right song this time?" I resist the urge to growl at her.
2:45 We finish the music rehearsal for the beginning of camp.
3:05 The band meets outside to practice parade marching. We do the basics: forward, backwards, left, and right.
3:45 Some one gets faint from the heat. They get to sit out. I want to tell the drum majors that I'm too hot and I need to sit out, too.
3:56 We head back inside and start playing Lady Ga Ga again.
4:22 The teacher complains that his stool is too short. He wants the towel stool because it is taller.
4:23 We have stopped playing and the teacher starts giving announcements. We all think camp is over, so we all start packing up our instruments.
4:24 The teacher tells us that we are not done yet. Everyone groans.
4:28 The teacher finally finishes announcements. We play the school song again.
4:35 We are finally done! With 25 minutes to spare!
4:37 We leave the building. My sister head home where I plan on standing in front of the fridge with the door open.

Band camp was equal parts of playing and marching mixed with a lot of hoping we get out early.

So I was sad. But they said they would want to see new posts from me, so I'm working on it...

Pills and School. Can you think of anything worse?

So I really hate pills. Really, really hate pills. I can take ibuprofen just fine. But those pills I got after my ER trip, I couldn't handle them. I had them twice a day for 7 days. The first was went done fine. But then I had problems.

For 10 pills. I had to take 4 glasses of water just to swallow the stupid pill. So twice a day, that gives me 8 cups (8 oz) of water for the whole day. I almost never just drink water. I have a glass of milk/juice/pop/etc. with meals. And that's it. So I was suddenly getting 8 glasses of water a day. This sudden big increase of water intake caused me to pee like a pregnant racehorse. When I told my sister that, she told me it was too much info...but it was annoying me! I was awake 3 hours and I had to use the bathroom 4 times! It's ridiculous!

Now I have taken all of the pills. So I don't need 8 cups of water to take them. So I have a sudden decrease in water intake. So I was really thirsty all day. >.<

It's rather annoying.

I also just started school yesterday. I'll talk about it later. And I'm writing about it for Sparklife. I also wrote 3 other posts. One was rejected (I already had it on here). :( If the other ones get rejected too, I'll post them here.

So, yeah. That's it for now.

Au revoir. Je m'en vais.

My First Trip to the ER

So there is this dog that lives on the other end of the block. It's a little white dog. It is constantly running around loose. It barks nonstop. My sister and I named it Denis. As in Denis the Menace. It is the most annoying dog I have ever seen. But I never hated that dog. Until Yesterday.

My sister and I were walking to the library. The house with Denis is on the way to the library. Denis was tied up to a tree between the sidewalk and the road. Its leash reached the sidewalk. My sister was walking in front of me. She walked by the dog and nothing happened.

So what does this have to do with the ER?

Well, when I walked by Denis, He bit me. Twice. Before you freak out, it wasn't that bad. There was a small puncture wound on each of my legs. One of them started bleeding. This was on the way to the library. Since it was small wounds, we kept going to the library. We returned and renewed books. Then we left. We walked home. When we reached the house with Denis, I walked up on the grass in their yard to avoid the dog. I'll eagerly go up to a Saint Bernard and pet it, but I avoided that dog like the plague.

My sister and I walked into the house. She helped pour some peroxide on the cuts. Then she texted my mom to tell her. My mom called back. She started freaking out. She left work early. When she got home, she called the cops. Ten minutes later, the cop arrived. Ten minutes may not seem like a long time, but I live three blocks from the police department. What took the so long?

When he finally arrived, he looked at my leg where I was bit. We told him that we had no idea if the dog had had any shots. He wrote down our names and my mom's number, then went to the house where the dog lives. The dog is going to be impounded for ten days. The cop recommended that we got to the hospital.

That's when I started freaking out. I was thinking they would have to take a blood sample, or something to check for diseases or something. And I thought I would probably have to get rabies shots. So I'm freaking out because I'm thinking they will use a needle on me. I absolutely despise needles. They are one of the few thing's I'm afraid of.

So we get to the hospital. We wander around trying to find the right area. When we finally do, the lady at the desk gets my name, birthday, and medical information. She prints of a paper thingy and folds the laminated stuff over it. Then she put it around my wrist. It's one of those bracelets.

It had a bar code on it. When I saw it I really wanted to go to Walmart to use the price checkers. I wanted to see if it would come up with a price for me.

So then I go into the ER. The nurse there treats the wounds. Then the doctor comes in. He checks it. Say's it will fine as long as it doesn't get infected. He leaves and another nurse comes in. She gives me a prescription (my first prescription) for an antibacterial medicine. It's a pill that I have to take twice a day for seven days.

And it is a HUGE pill. The only pills I ever take are ibuprofen. That's the little red pill. the white one is my prescription. It's not fun to take those pills.

So as long as I keep taking my medication, it won't get infected. Then everything will be all right.

Yesterday was my first trip to the ER and my first time of getting a prescription. All because I wanted to go to the library.

Au revoir. Je m'en vais.

What's in My Wallet?

Zella had a post recently. She titled it "What's in your wallet?" It's a question, so I am going to answer it. And this gives me a reason to organize everything in my purse.

In the inside pockets:
  • 5 receipts and 2 sticky notes in one pocket
  • 7 receipts in the pocket in front of it
  • 2 empty pockets in front of that
  • 8 school pictures. of of me, 2 of my sister, 6 of my other friends
  • an empty pocket on the other side of the wallet.
  • $24 and another receipt. I had $26. Then I put in my birthday money. Now it's only $24?

In the center section I have
  • a picture of a wedding I was in
  • a gift card for McDonalds
  • a membership card at the aquarium in Mall of America
  • my membership card at the rec center in a town 30 miles away
  • my activity pass from 2006. I don't need one anymore because I get into football and basketball games for free 'cause I'm in band.
  • my Get Out of Hell Free card
  • 3 name/adress/contact info cards. One filled out. One halfway filled out. One blank.
  • 2 Good News cards. One in English. One in Spanish
  • my learner's permit. It's bent and broken on one side...

Then in the out side pocket I have
  • $2.53 in change
  • a movie ticket
  • an instant win game piece from Subway. I won a cookie. However, the game piece expired October 18, 2009.

I was going to do the contents of my whole purse. I didn't think there was much in my wallet, so I figured the purse would make for a longer post. But I think this was long enough.

I just kinda put random stuff in there. I didn't realize I had that much in there...

That's pretty much it for this post. And I redid the beginning of my book and it is posted on my book blog. And I now have tabs on both blogs.

Au revoir. Je m'en vais.

Movies and Kitties

This post is kinda random. Each paragraph is a different topic. And it doesn't flow. But oh, well.

I went to the theater the other day and I saw Salt. Normally, there are previews/trailers in the beginning of the movie. In the beginning of this one, there were commercials. About Levis and razors. Seriously!? Why? Do they not get enough commercial time on TV?

My family does not have TV. We have a TV but no cable, satellite, or anything. To make up for this, we buy DVDs. Lots of them. The last number I saw was 1,134. And we've gotten more since then. I had a band lesson today. When I got back, my mom was alphabetizing those movies. This was at 2:30. We didn't finish until about 7:00. Then at about 8:30 my mom found a whole box of movies that we missed. >.<

I found a stray cat. He just walked into the house and made himself at home. He is a cute little cat. When we were putting the movies in order, he climbed all over them. We've had him about a week and a half. He finally got used to our other cat and our dog. Now we are giving him away because we are moving. :(

Au revoir. Je m'en vais.

Random note: extras in movies say "cheese and crackers" to look like they're talking.
