Blogging Luke pt4

Luke 4
This chapter starts out with the temptation of Jesus. Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days. He ate nothing and was tempted by the Devil for 40 days. The Devil said, "If you are the Son of God, change this stone into a loaf of bread." Jesus replies, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People need more than bread for their life.' (Deut 8:3) " Then the Devil said that he will give Jesus authority over kingdoms to Jesus. Jesus replied, "The Scriptures say, 'You must worship the Lord your God; serve only Him.' (Deut 6:13) " The Devil tells Jesus to jump off a cliff because angels will protect Him. (Psalm 91:11-12) Jesus replies, " 'Do not test the Lord your God.' (Deut 6:16) "
Jesus goes to Nazareth. He reads from Isaiah 61:1-2. Everyone is impressed by him. He says that no prophet is accepted in their own hometown. Then something happens (I'm not sure about this part) and the people there try to throw him off a cliff. (This part is Luke 4:14-30)
Jesus goes to Capernaum. While he is there, a man who is possessed comes by and starts yelling at him. Jesus says, "Be quiet." Then he tells the demon to come out of the man. The demon leaves and the people are amazed. They say, "What authority and power this man's words possess! Even the evil spirits obey him and flee at his command!" The story spreads like wild fire.
Jesus leaves the synagogue and goes to Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law is very sick and has a fever. Jesus rebuked the fever and her temperature dropped. Other people came and he healed them too. His touch healed every one, no matter what their diseases were.
Jesus goes into the wilderness. The crowds ask him to not leave. He replied, "I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other places, too, because that is why I was sent." He continues traveling and preaching throughout Judea.

Blogging Luke pt3

Wow. 3 posts in one day.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Luke 3
John was living out in the wilderness and he received a message from God. He went to the Jordan River and preached that people should be baptized to show that they had turned from their sins. In chapter 40 of Isaiah, Isaiah said "He is a voice shouting in the wilderness: Prepare a pathway for the Lord's coming! Make a straight road for him.' "
Everyone was waiting for the Messiah and they all thought that John was the Messiah. When they asked him, he responded, "I baptize with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater then me--so much greater that i am nit worthy to untie his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."
One day while John was baptizing a crowd, Jesus was baptized. As he was praying, the Holy Spirit descended on him in the form of a dove and a voice from heaven said, "You are my Son, with whom I am pleased."
When Jesus was 30, he began his public ministry. The Bible then lists all of Jesus's heritage.

That one was kinda short...

Blogging Luke pt2

The first part was longer than I was expecting. I planned on putting 4 or 5 chapters in each post, but they're kinda long for that.

I still have 23 more chapters. Do you guys want me to shorten them and put more than one in each post? Should I put more than one chapter in each post. Do you want me to just shorten them? Or do you like them like they are?

Now that I finished asking questions, here is Luke 2.

There is a census taken throughout the Roman empire. Everyone had to return to their own towns. Joseph was a descendant of David, so he had to return to Bethlehem. There was no room in the inn, so Jesus was born in a manger.
Out side of Bethlehem, there are some shepherds. An angel appears to them and they are filled with terror. He said, "Don't be afraid. I bring you good tidings of great joy for everyone. The Savoir has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David." He tells them that they will find a baby in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth. More angels appear and praise God. They say, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth and goodwill among people."
The shepherds go and visit the baby. Eight days later, he is circumcised. Mary and Joseph give an offering of two birds. Simeon is led to the temple by the Spirit. He holds Jesus and says that he can now die in peace. (The holy spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he saw the Lord's Messiah. Another prophet, Anna, was also in the temple. She came along while Simeon was talking to Joseph and Mary and Anna began praising God.
Mary and Joseph went to Jerusalem every year for the passover. When Jesus was 12, they went again. That year they started heading home to Nazareth and Jesus stayed in Jerusalem. Mary and Joseph were not worried because they thought he was with the other travelers. They find him 3 days later in the temple. He was in deep discussion with the teachers there. Mary tells him that they were worried and searched all over for him. He replied, "Why did you need to search? You should have known I would be in my Father's house."

So that was chapter 2. Should I change anything?

Blogging Luke pt1

This is a lot of stuff from the Bible. If you don't want to read it, then don't.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
For travel team, I need to read the gospel of Luke. In order to help me remember, I am going to post summary type things. I will probably be doing all 24 chapters. If I missed something important, let me know. :)

Luke 1

One day while Zechariah is in the temple, the angel Gabriel comes to visit him. Gab said, "Don't be afraid, For God has heard your prayer, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son. And you are to name him John." Zech then replies, "How can I know this will happen? I'm an old man now and my wife is also well along in years." Since Zech doubted him, he can't talk until the baby is born. Liz becomes pregnant and says. "How kind the Lord is. He has taken away my disgrace of having no children."

Shortly after this, Gab visits Liz's relative, Mary. He tells her that she will have a baby and she will name his Jesus. She is a virgin, so how can she have a baby? The Holy Spirit will come upon her so her baby will be holy. He tells her about Liz (who was in her 6th month). He says "Nothing is impossible with God."

Mary goes to visit Mary. When Mary gets there, she greets Liz. Liz's baby "leaped within her" at the sound of Mary's voice. Liz tells Mary that she is blessed. Mary sings a song of praise.

Liz has her baby. At the circumcision ceremony, friends and family want to name the baby Zechariah after the father. Liz says his name is John. The guests are confused because no one in the family is named John. Zech motions for a writing tablet and writes, "His name is John." Zech can speak again. After people hear about this, they say, "I wonder what this child will turn out to be? For the hand of the Lord is surly upon him."

Zech is filled with the Holy Spirit and gives a prophecy. He says that John will prepare the way of the Lord. John grows up and then lives in the wilderness until he began his ministry to Israel.

Briefer summary: The Births of John the Baptist and Jesus are foretold. Liz and Mary are related and are pregnant at about the same time. Mary visits Liz for 3 months. John is born and named. Zech can speak again and makes a prophesy about John.

So that is Luke chapter 1. Did I miss anything? Should I reword the parts taken directly from the Bible? Should I change it from old-ish English to more modern English?

Au revoir. Je m'en vais.
